Will & Grace: The Finale

Ok so in my last post I was super pissed about the whole "season finale" thing. I was also talking about how pissed I was that W & G has decided to go out like it has. For those of you that don't watch the show then I'll give you a little update. Grace is pregnant with her ex-husband's baby (who, by the way, doesn't know yet) and she told Will that they would raise the baby together. Meanwhile, Vince and Will got back together but this past week broke up again because Vince made Will choose between him and Grace. Will chose Grace but now Grace found out Leo (the ex) broke off his engagement and is living in Rome so she wants to fly over there to be with him to raise their baby together. And Will is now upset and rightfully so because he will now be alone if she leaves him. So that's basically the rundown of the last couple of episodes. So why am I mad? First off this is a comedy show right? Well it doesn't seem like it any more. The writers are making this a very dramatic ending to what was supposed to be a comedic show. Granted there were some dramatic episodes during its run and honestly, who has a completely laughable life all the time? Therefore I kind of understand the drama but not during every episode 4 weeks before the show is over for good. So I'm just mad that this is going down this way. However, I will have to say that this past week's episode was somewhat funnier than the week before only because of the interactions between Josh Lucas and Jack. But that's it. Bernadette Peters also guest starred and I think they were trying to make her have a funny role as Karen's sister but it came off as weird because her lines came across as forced and un-funny on top of the fact that no one knew Karen even had a sister. I thought that the second to last episode was kind of the wrong time to be bringing her into the show. It just seems that this show has grown out of it's skin. It's like there should be another season to help wrap some things up or at the very least some more episodes without new characters. But, alas, this is not the case. W & G is now going out as a drama with a few comedic lines thrown in. And I'm using the word comedic very loosely. It just upsets me that this was one of my favorite shows and now it has become something I don't even recognize. Another reason I'm kind of put off by the show is that there have been probably 4 or 5 lines here recently bashing the President. In last week's episode Grace was talking about naming the baby George and not after the curious monkey which she related back to President Bush. I know that it's a very liberal show because of the gay theme that it has (believe me I'm not that naive) but come on! Calling George W a monkey? I think that might be taking it too far. So I guess to wrap this up, the show is getting very pushy. It's pushing every thing on us at one time as far as the storyline goes not to mention the writer's views on politics. I think I want to take back my previous comment about needing another season of this show. W & G had a great run and perhaps it is time for them to stop while they are ahead. Of course they'll join other great shows in syndication and will live eternally as Will & Grace (which would be just as funny if not moreso if it were called Jack & Karen because honestly we all know they stole the show anyway).
Note: This blog was written the week before the series finale of W & G.

Now the quote:
Yeah, that's it. I got a student alt rock band coming on next. Mitch, I own six speaker cities. I am worth three a half million dollars that the government knows about. I got more electronics up there than a damn KISS concert. you think I'm gonna roll out this type of red carpet for a fucking marching band? Just make sure you can see the stage.
